MARIN COUNTY, Calif. — Son of the late Robin Williams plans to partner with an inmate to teach a financial literary class at San Quentin State Prison in California.
Zak Williams has an MBA from Columbia where he studied behavioral finance, and decided to follow in his father’s footsteps by helping people who “might not have been dealt a great hand in life,” according to Fortune.com.
Curtis Carroll, who is known at San Quentin as ‘Wall Street,’ studies stock patterns behind bars after reading old copies of the Wall Street Journal.
Together the pair teaches a class that educates inmates about current events regarding the economy, investment strategies, and how to develop skills that will help them in life after prison.
“I believe that financial education is the cure for guys who are chasing money where they’re willing to kill a guy for 20 bucks,” said Carroll.
