IRELAND — A new method of telling smugglers when it’s safe to throw contraband over prison walls is gaining popularity at Cloverhill Prison, near West Dublin.

The Irish Mirror reports that inmates are using whistling codes to tell smugglers on the other side of the fence that it’s clear to throw packages over.

“The prison throwing the drugs over the wall whistles once, and waits to hear if they get one back,” says a source. “If they don’t hear anything back, they know there are warders around and not to go ahead with the drop.

“If they hear a whistle back, however, they know it’s safe to fling the parcel over.”

The deliveries are allegedly being organized by gang bosses on the inside.
