Contraband: Cellphone in typewriter cartridge

A typewriter ribbon cartridge was found at a facility in Michigan. A Corrections1 member wrote in and said a common brand of typewriter within the MDOC in the past year used to be a Smith Corona and a Brother ML 500.

“Now we used the clear Swintec and require clear ribbon cartridges. But there are still plenty of the old style ribbon cartridges around,” he said.

An inmate took advantage of that and attempted to smuggle in a cell phone inside an old school typewriter ribbon cartridge, but the corrections officers doing a search of the inmate’s cell knew better.
