BISHOPVILLE — A man allegedly involved in the smuggling of contraband into the Lee Correctional Institution by use of drones was arrested in Tennessee.
Sputnik News reports that this arrest was made after investigators discovered a receipt from a convenience store at the campground where the smugglers had been hiding near the prison.
The store’s surveillance cameras revealed images of the drone’s operators.
Security cameras captured an unidentified flying object flying near the prison on April 21, 2014; an officer sent to investigate saw a man running into the wooded area around the prison.
Further investigation discovered a package filled with drugs and a cell phone tangled in power lines. A crashed drone was also found in bushes nearby.
It’s unclear how many suspects are being sought.
