Man arrested for flying drone with contraband into Okla. prison

The drone crashed into fencing around the facility on Oct. 26. The incident is still under investigation.

MCALESTER, Okla. — A man with gang ties has been arrested in connection with contraband smuggling via drone, according to News OK.

Marquis Gilkey, 29, has been charged with kidnapping a woman who regularly visited an inmate at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary and forcing her to purchase a drone; the drone carried a package containing hacksaw blades, a cellphone, cigarettes and multiple street drugs.

The drone crashed into fencing around the facility on Oct. 26. The incident is still under investigation.

Gilkey has served time in prison for robbery, aggravated assault and battery.
