LOWDHAM, England — A prison is being praised for installing a photobooth for visitors so inmates can take photos with their families.
Privately-run HMP Lowdham Grange in England installed the photobooth to help inmates strengthen personal relationships, The Guardian reports.
The booth was introduced in March to help families and children have a more positive experience of visiting their fathers. The Ministry of Justice cited research that 39 percent of inmates who receive family visits are less likely to reoffend.
Officials have highlighted the importance of enabling inmates to maintain relationships with loved ones behind bars. Last month, the government announced plans to allow thousands more inmates in Wales and England to make phone calls from their cells.
The prison has also introduced a “violence hotline” for inmates to report concerns about violent behavior in an effort to improve prison safety.
