Mich. jail receives $35K grant for new control panels

The new panels will replace ones so old that “you can’t purchase parts for them”

GRATIOT COUNTY, Mich. — The Gratiot County Jail will be getting some new control panels with newly awarded grant money.

According to The Morning Sun, the jail has received a $35,000 grant from the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority.

The new panels will replace ones so old that “you can’t purchase parts for them,” said Sheriff Doug Wright. The panels are used for locking and unlocking cells, a well as activating cameras and lights.

The project will add up to a total of $72,000. The other half will be paid by the county.
