A new product developed and used by the military to save lives is available to law enforcement. The product is called Quik-Clot which comes in powder or sponge form and is intended to be used to stop severe bleeding. This product can be carried/applied by the individual officer should he suffer an injury that results in severe bleeding, such as a gunshot or cut.
Several recent articles indicate that officers bled to death after being shot or injured and medical aid was unavailable or arrived too late to save them. Quik-Clot can be carried and applied by the injured officer. It has been used numerous times in Afghanistan and Iraq to save countless military personnel.
