JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — A Southern Indiana judge is under fire after a Clark County inmate was used to move furniture from the judge’s rental property.

The Clark County Probation Department says the inmate was used to moved a television, bed, and box spring from a rental property owned by circuit court judge Jerry Jacobi.

According to Clark County interim sheriff Brian Meyer, the inmate has been working outside the jail as a trusty for the last several months. He cuts grass, sweeps sidewalks, and washes police cars.

A few weeks ago, Meyer says Community Service Director Joe Renck asked if he could use the inmate to move donated furniture to Jeffersonville drug rehabilitation program Jerry’s House.

“Fifteen minutes later he was back in front of my office saying, hey he is back outside working,” said Meyer.
