Winchester Unveils New 45-Caliber Ammunition for Glock Automatic Pistols

For Immediate Release

Winchester 45-Caliber Ammunition Winchester® Ammunition is now offering four commercial and two law enforcement loads for Glock’s new 45 G.A.P. pistols. The new loads from Winchester will maximize the potential of these new medium-framed pistols.

Winchester’s new cartridge is 1/8 inch shorter than the 45 Auto. Yet, when Winchester’s development engineers finished the load development, they had 230-grain bullets equaling 45 Auto velocities. Many shooters consider the 230-grain bullet the “right” bullet in 45 caliber ammunition, and Winchester agrees. Three of the commercial loads will be 230-grain bullets.

In the economically priced USA line from Winchester, a 230-grain full metal jacket (FMJ) bullet and a 230-grain jacketed hollow point (JHP) bullet are available. The FMJ bullet is designed for target practice while the JHP load is designed for personal protection. Out of the Glock 45 G.A.P., the FMJ bullet has a muzzle velocity of 850 feet per second while the JHP load has an 880 feet per second.

Winchester is also offering a 230-grain bullet in their Winclean® line for the 45 G.A.P. This load incorporates a lead-free primer and a brass enclosed base (BEB) bullet that has a solid base to eliminate reduce airborne lead exposure at the firing point. This load will have a muzzle velocity of 875 feet per second and is highly desirable for target shooting.

Rounding out the commercial loads in the 45 G.A.P. from Winchester is another personal protection load. A 185-grain Silvertip® Hollow Point bullet is loaded in 45 G.A.P. in the Super-X® line of pistol ammunition. This load has a muzzle velocity of 1,000 feet per second.
