Securus Delivers Free K-12 Educational Content to 100,000+ Incarcerated Individuals

Tablet curriculum is customized for the safety needs of corrections agencies

DALLAS — Securus Technologies, a leading provider of technology-enabled solutions for public safety, law enforcement, investigations, corrections and government payment services announces that it continues to expand its educational curriculum to more users through the Securus SecureView Tablet program, at no additional cost.

Securus connects more than 100,000 incarcerated individuals to a modern educational curriculum through its customized version of the popular KA Lite platform. This educational platform empowers self-paced learning delivered through more than 25,000 exercises and skill checks and 7,000 educational videos. The Securus version is a user-friendly platform optimized specifically for the security needs of corrections agencies.

“Through the Securus tablet program, KA Lite provides educational opportunities to any inmate at any skill level,” said Mark Southland of Securus. “Not only does education turn idle time into productive time, it helps prepare users for their GEDs, encourages the use of today’s technology and proactively prepares them for reentry.”

Through its “Learn, Practice, Test” format, users can watch an informative video, practice the skills presented and then test themselves on what they’ve learned. As they progress through their lessons, the application recommends similar or related educational content to keep them achieving their educational success. Subjects available are Math, Science, Personal Finance and Accounting, Grammar, Computer Programming/Science, History, Health/Mental Health, Entrepreneurship, Career Exploration, and more.

The app is available free of charge on all SecureView Tablets at participating facilities. Like all SecureView applications, KA Lite only delivers secure, approved content and cannot be used to access the internet or other outside websites.
