CASCADE COUNTY, Mt. — Only 20 out of the original 64 cameras inside the Cascade County Jail still work.
KFBB reports that the jail is now looking to update it’s 17-year-old video surveillance system. A company named Sound Pro was awarded the $300,000 contract.

The company will begin to install 220 new digital cameras into the jail within the next week; some of the cameras will even have audio.
Sheriff’s Commander Dan O’Fallon said the new system will improve safety for staff, inmates and visitors. The system was recently approved by a panel of Cascade County Commissioners.
The upgrade has nothing to do with the recent ACLU report that criticized jail conditions throughout Montana, according to O’Fallon.
