Elbeco’s New BasicDuty Uniform Member Tested And Recommended By NTOA

Elbeco BasicDuty Uniform

Elbeco, the leading manufacturer of public service uniforms, has announced that its new BasicDuty Uniform has received Member Tested Recommended Status from the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA). The first battle dress uniform (BDU) specifically designed for public safety and law enforcement use, the BasicDuty Uniform received an overall score of 4.45 on a scale of 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent).

A tester from Pennsylvania commented, “The blouse and trousers impressed me immediately because of the well designed construction and fit. I have worn many different types of uniforms during my military and law enforcement careers, and I can honestly say that I found Elbeco’s uniform to be extremely durable and comfortable.”

A tester from Oregon concurred, “These BDUs are constructed of a heavyweight material that works well for tactical applications and as a patrol uniform…heavy enough to accept the wear and tear normally expected, but light enough to maintain the expected comfort level.”

“The NTOA Member Tested and Recommended program is a great way to see how products will hold up in all weather conditions. Officers and deputies from all over the country field-test products under real-world conditions. The NTOA seal of approval means that the product has been put through the toughest conditions and stood up to law enforcement!” -Officer Anderson as seen in The Tactical Edge Spring 2004.

With the new BasicDuty Uniforms, Elbeco has upgraded the MIL-SPEC BDU to law enforcement standards. The BasicDuty Uniform combines Elbeco’s time-proven Tactical Twill fabric with unique design enhancements including a zip-fly, reinforced shoulder straps with a mike/utility opening, and coordinated cargo pockets for a more practical tactical uniform.

Elbeco’s rugged, high quality poly/cotton Tactical Twill fabric provides better color matching and fade resistance, superior strength, and more comfort than typical ripstop BDU fabrics. The new BasicDuty Uniform provides exceptional functionality and durability for any use, including tactical team operations, SWAT teams, training details, Emergency Medical (EMS/EMT) and every day law enforcement use.

The NTOA Product Testing Program provides manufacturers with a process to have their products field test by at least two groups in the law enforcement community, ensuring objectivity. A uniform was issued to each of the testers for them to wear everyday while on duty. Products are rated from 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent) in numerous categories including design, performance, ease-of-use, size, quality, durability, storage, versatility, convenience, application, comfort and cleaning/maintenance. The NTOA only gives recommended status to products that score 3.0 and higher. A full write-up about the tests for the BasicDuty Uniform will appear in a future issue of The Tactical Edge, the official journal of the NTOA.
