YAKIMA, Wash. — A corrections officer is recovering after four inmates attacked him on May 8. They’re now facing second-degree assault charges.

According to the Yakima Herald, the officer was investigating why two inmates switched cells without authorization when inmate Pedro Solis snuck behind and attacked him.

The officer fought off Solis before three more inmates, Jose Arriaga, Primitivo Garcia and Hector Garcia-Ceja, also began attacking him.

Other COs stepped in to help the officer, who suffered a fractured nose and rib during the attack. He was treated at a local hospital and released.
