NASHVILLE — Correctional officers and lawmakers have raised concerns that too many officers have quit after a new schedule went into effect. The Tennessee Department of Correction has refused to release staffing levels at state prisons.
The Channel 4 I-Team has obtained a staff roster at a Tennessee prison that shows a number of vacant positions. TDOC said it won’t release the staffing rosters for security reasons, but a source thought it was important to share how many positions were unfilled in a random day last month at this prison.
The roster shows more than 140 vacant jobs in a single day. The information comes as correctional officers prepare to protest the changes to their schedules.
