YARMOUTH, Mass. — A man accused of fatally shooting a police officer was arraigned last week after slicing the face of an inmate.

Thomas Latanowich, 30, is accused of killing Yarmouth Police Sergeant Sean Gannon in April 2018 and is being held without bail, local news station WHDH reports. Latanowich was charged with assault to maim and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after he sliced the face of an inmate during a fight inside the jail.

Video reportedly captured Latanowich pulling out a small, straight-edged razor from his waistband, which he allegedly used to slice a two-inch cut on the face and left ear of the inmate he was fighting.

He was arraigned via a video conference between the facility and district court.
