ORLEANS, La. — An Orleans Parish jail inmate faces new allegations of sexual battery and battery of a police officer after authorities said he aggressively grabbed the groin area of two deputies in separate incidents while in custody.

Metairie’s Michael Edwards, 29, had no previous felony arrest record in Orleans Parish criminal court, but was booked with a misdemeanor allegation for which he was taken to Municipal Court earlier this week. Details of the incident that prompted Edwards’ first arrest were not immediately available in Edwards’ court file.

But records show Edwards, whose forehead bears a large scripted “WHO DAT” tattoo, is accused of attacking deputies Monday (Aug. 3) and Tuesday.
