Calif. inmate stabs corrections officer at state prison

The officer was stabbed in the neck and head with a makeshift weapon



CORCORAN, Calif. — A corrections officer is recovering after being stabbed by an inmate.

According to local news station KPIX, California State Prison-Corcoran inmate Jubenal Mendoza distracted staff while inmate Edwin Perez used a makeshift weapon to stab the officer in the neck and head. 

The officer, who wasn’t identified, was taken to the hospital after the attack is now recovering at home.

The inmates were transferred to another prison
