SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. — Four inmates face several charges after attacking corrections officers at a Florida prison.

The Pensacola News-Journal reports that inmates Johnslow Sauveur, 23, Markus Vincent, 27, Andre Williams, 30, and Dukene Myrtil, 36, were charged in what the Florida DOC calls a “dangerous encounter.” The FDOC didn’t go into detail about the nature of the attack.

According to the FDOC, the four inmates attacked multiple officers at the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution on Monday. The inmates were eventually subdued after additional staff responded to the attack.

The officers suffered injuries, but details about their conditions were not released. FDOC Secretary Julie Jones thanked the officers for their work.

"These officers showed extraordinary courage in the face of a difficult and dangerous encounter," the FDOC statement reads.

The inmates face a slew of charges, including aggravated battery on law enforcement.
