SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A 16-year-old who was certified to stand trial as an adult in the death of a former correctional officer was indicted by a Bexar County grand jury Tuesday.

Raul Ignacio Cervera was indicted on a count of capital murder in the death of Abram Garcia IV.

Cervera was 15 when he is alleged to have shot Garcia, 20, at about at 9:45 p.m. at an apartment complex on Nov. 12, 2018, in the 700 block of Drury Lane, according to a previous report.

The teen was certified to be tried as an adult during a hearing in April.

Testimony at the hearing established that Cervera was going to buy marijuana from Garcia and his girlfriend, but he allegedly demanded all of the drugs instead.

Cervera faces life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.
