MARBLE FALLS, Texas — A Comal County corrections officer has died after an alleged drunk driver hit her on July 4.
Cynthia Young, 60, was walking to her car with her family after watching fireworks when Thomas Pfeifer, Jr. ran a stop sign and hit Young, San Antonio Express-News reported. Young was transported to the hospital where she later died.
Pfeifer, 33, fled the scene and was identified through witness information. He turned himself in Wednesday and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death, the publication reported.
“Cynthia always had a smile and was a valuable member of the sheriff’s office,” the department wrote on Facebook. “She was loved by many. We shall miss her a lot.”
