In this installment of Tier Talk, Anthony Gangi sits down with Sex Offender Treatment Specialist Kelli Callahan. Listen as they discuss the special programs geared towards sex offenders, controversy in treating sex offenders, and what is being done with sex offenders once they get released.

About Kelli Callahan
Kelli Callahan has spent the past twenty-four years working within the Criminal Justice field, and has taught various criminal justice and forensics classes for the past several years, both in the traditional classroom, as well as via the on-line format. She has also taught forensic science and criminal justice classes and seminars in various law enforcement, investigative, and related criminal justice academy settings.

Kelli’s work experience includes employment in various capacities including evidence analysis and crime scene processing, forensic medical investigation, law enforcement, probation/parole, corrections, and officer selection and training. During her time in the field, she has had the opportunity to work in numerous specialty units which have included working with various special offender and victim populations including sexually based crimes, SVP’s (sexually violent predators), crimes against children, domestic violence, stalking offenders, gang involved offenders, high-risk juvenile offenders, and seriously mentally ill (SMI) offenders.

Kelli possesses a Master’s Degree in Forensic Science (M.F.S.), a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology (B.S.), a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology (B.A.), and she is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Psychology (Ph.D.), with an emphasis in research. She possesses certifications in forensic medical investigation, crime scene processing, evidence analysis, homeland security, and maintain professional membership in several criminal justice and forensic science organizations. She also maintains active involvement in multiple collegiate level criminal justice and forensic science curriculum development committees and enjoy networking with other criminal justice and forensic professionals and students.
