Human trafficking is not just limited to the streets, it can also happen behind a secured wall

Tier Talk is available on these platforms: Spreaker, IHeartRadioTuneIn, PlayerFM, YouTube & Stitcher.

Today on Tier Talk, Anthony Gangi sits with John Meekins and discusses human trafficking. Listen in as we discuss how human trafficking can occur behind the prison wall. John Meekins informs us that with just a little bit of training, correctional staff can learn to see the signs for human trafficking and put a stop to it once and for all.

John Meekins has a degree in business from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a member of the International Association of Human Trafficking Investigators, and the Florida Gang Investigators Association, he works for the Florida Department of Corrections. His experience working with female inmates in one of the largest women’s prisons in the nation in addition to hundreds of hours of research and interviews conducted with human traffickers, victims, academics, and investigators worldwide give John a unique depth of understanding crime behind prison walls. John has spoken to a wide variety of audiences, and advised the states of Ohio and Indiana on implementing human trafficking training and awareness programs for both staff and inmates within their state prison systems. John Meekins does not represent or speak for the Florida Department of Corrections.
