Ala. inmate escapes from job assignment

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — An Alabama man serving time at a minimum security prison facility left a job site in Montgomery on Friday, prison officials say.

The Alabama Department of Corrections issued an escape notice for Christopher Shun Hamby on Friday afternoon.

Hamby left the Montgomery job site at about 3:15 p.m.

The 36-year-old was incarcerated at the Red Eagle Work Camp, a prison facility north of the city of Montgomery.

“If you have any information concerning the whereabouts of this escapee, please notify your local law enforcement agency, the facility from which the inmate escaped or call the Alabama Dept. of Corrections at 1-800-831-8825,” the escape release stated.

According to inmate records, Hamby was convicted of trafficking methamphetamine. He had previous property theft convictions.
