STAFFORDSHIRE, U.K. — Two brothers were caught attempting to smuggle hundreds of drugs into a prison by packing them inside of juice boxes.

The Daily Mail reports that Tahir Ali, 40, was asked by his incarcerated brother, Nahim Ali, 34, to help him smuggle steroid pills and painkillers into Featherstone Prison, where he was doing time.

The plan was to pack the drugs into the juice containers and throw them over prison walls.

Tahir approached prison walls on February 19 and was caught on CCTV throwing something over the wall. Officers searched the area where Tahir was throwing the contraband and found the juice boxes along with 750 pills, liquid testosterone and another steroid.

They found 399 tablets of oxymetholone, 310 tablets of oxandrolone, and 49 tablets of buprenophrine, which is sometimes used as a heroin substitute.

Police had been tipped off to the plot after intercepting a call from Tahir to his brother explaining how the drugs would be packaged.

They then waited for the next run to be made, replaced the drug-filled cartons with fakes, and then apprehended Tahir on February 27 when he went to visit his brother.

Both were charged with conspiracy to supply class C drugs and were bailed to appear at a later date.

The case comes at the same time a report was released that suggested a lack of staff at the jail was having a serious impact, highlighting vandalized cells, widespread drug use, bullying, thefts, andviolent prisoners.
