YAKIMA, Wash. — Yakima County Department of Corrections and the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a 42-year-old jail inmate who hanged herself Friday.

Cheril Ann Corcoles died in a local hospital Tuesday, said Corrections Security Operations Chief Scott Himes. Corcoles was found about 15 minutes after she met with a mental-health professional, Himes said.

Jail staff performed CPR and restored a pulse when she was taken to the hospital, Himes said.

Corcoles had been booked into the jail Dec. 3 for violating a protective order, according to jail records.

The department’s internal affairs investigator is working with the sheriff’s office on the incident, Himes said.
