Has had incredibly successful ratings and clocks in at 1.2 million viewers each week

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A TV show giving viewers an inside glimpse into the realities of working inside a New Mexico prison has become a smash hit.

KOB reports that the show has had incredibly successful ratings and clocks in at 1.2 million viewers each week.

The difference this time is that the prison system is charging the company making the show for access to the facility, and the money is used to cover officers’ overtime. However, the prison isn’t making a profit off of this deal, so why do it?

“We need people to know what we’re doing for them, how we’re using their money, and we think this show is opening people’s eyes to why you have to fund corrections and why our officers need a pay raise,” Alex Tomlin, with the Department of Corrections, said.

The show has two episodes of its eight-episode season left.
