TALLAHASSEE — Eight Florida K-9 units swept the single and multileash divisions in the recent Southern States Manhunt competition.
Washington County News reports that the single leash division involves one K-9 being utilized to track a suspect in a course; the multileash uses more than one. Teams were ranked by amount of time it took to capture the suspect.
Jefferson Correctional Institution took first place in the single leash division, while Wakulla Correctional Institution won the multileash division. Second and third place in both divisions were also secured by Florida K-9 units from other facilties.
The DOC credits extensive training, skill and dedication of both staff and canines.
