FORT LEAVENWORTH – The person responsible for leaking volumes of confidential documents to WikiLeaks is using outside sources to maintain a Twitter account.
Chelsea Manning (formerly Bradley Manning) is currently serving a 35-year sentence for espionage, according to The Verge.
Her first tweet appeared after noon Friday. She is said to be dictating the tweets to others over a landline phone from prison, but says she’s hoping to use the system to reply to followers as well as posting tweets.
It’s unclear if her Twitter is being monitored at all by the facility she’s currently serving her time in.
Manning will be eligible for parole in seven years.
I’m hoping to stay connected w/ this account as much as poss., but would rather tweet about more meaningful things than not #lessismore
