KANE COUNTY — Inmates are facing new charges after a brawl broke out inside the Kane County Adult Justice Center Sunday morning.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that 15 inmates are facing charges for a fight that included 33 people. The fight started around 11 a.m., and more than half the detainees in one cellblock were involved.
The single correctional officer assigned to that block called for assistance when the fight started. Once other sheriff’s deputies responded, the fight was quelled within five minutes.
It’s unclear what started the fight.
Inmates are facing charges of aggravated battery and resisting a correctional officer.
