Job Description

A Patrol Deputy II is a law enforcement position that requires competency in detecting and investigating criminal activity; enforcement of local, state and federal laws; preparation of accurate reports to help in follow-up investigation, criminal and civil court, and in department investigations. Other duties may include serving civil papers, guarding prisoners, and assisting other agencies. Maintain department proficiency standards in the use of firearms. Safely operates a County vehicle in normal and emergency conditions. Use of field equipment. Use of computers required by the position. Successfully complete mandatory training. Remain calm and respond appropriately to emergency and threatening situations. Protect self and others in threatening situations.

Special assignments may require extended duties, training, and responsibilities, to include: Drug Task Force Evidence Technician Field Training Officer Investigations K-9 Range Master Bomb Technician SWAT

Applications and subsequent steps submitted by or within the stated and preferred dates will be given priority for the next scheduled academy. WCSO maintains a continual hiring process and all applications and submissions will be placed on an eligibility list and be considered for current and anticipated academies.

The following timeline is for the anticipated June 2019 academy:

•On-line Application submitted by: April 20, 2019

•Successful Completion of the (Lawfit) test by: May 4, 2019

•Successful Completion of the online, written test by: May 4, 2019

•Submission of the Background packet by: May 24, 2019

•Completion of the Polygraph Examination:May 31, 2019

•Completion of the Psychological Examination:May 31,019

•Completion of the Ergo-Med and Drug Tests:May 31, 2019

•Academy starts: June 17, 2019

It is the intent of the WCSO to provide the applicant to provide his or her employer the industry standard 2-weeks' notice prior to taking another job, however a position may be offered without this time frame to fill an open position. Acceptance of this position is at the discretion of the applicant.

Anticipated Academy Date of June 17, 2019.

Additional Information

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Possess a High School Diploma or GED

Must currently be P.O.S.T. Certified

Must be at least 21 years of age or older

Possess, or obtain a valid Colorado Drivers' License at time of hire.
