SPRINGVILLE, Ala. — A St. Clair Correctional Facility officer was stabbed during an assault by three inmates on Thursday.
WBRC reports that the incident occurred during the evening meal as inmates were returning to their cells.
One inmate became physically aggressive with the officer in retaliation for being ordered back to his cell, and was assisted by two other inmates who came up behind the officer.
The injured officer was transported to a nearby hospital, treated and released. No other information was released regarding the officer or their injuries.
The weapon used in the assault, a homemade shiv, was found and confiscated.
