At the Holman Correctional Facility in Alabama, Officer Kenneth Bettis was stabbed while doing his patrol of the mess hall. He was stabbed because he denied an inmate an extra plate of fries.

Walking an active mess hall is done at a great risk to the officers. An active mess hall is where inmates can unite and become a serious threat. Is walking a mess hall still needed? Or, are there alternatives that can be just as effective?

In this episode of Tier Talk, Anthony Gangi discusses the practice of walking mess halls. Listen in, and feel free to state your point of view.
