KLAMATH FALLS — An Oregon State Police bomb squad removed what’s being described as “chemical destructive device” from the entrance to the Klamath County Jail.

The Herald and News reports the device was found Thursday around noon, prompting a lockdown and the evacuation of about 100 people.

Jail Commander Lt. Jeanette Davis said the device looked like a two-liter bottle, with blue masking tape on top and a brown substance inside. Pink flagging ribbon was tied around the neck of the bottle.

Sheriff Frank Skrah says investigators are looking at who went into and out of the jail, and those who entered the office to post bail.

Skrah says the bomb squad “neutralized” the device.
