NEW ORLEANS, La. — A former Orleans Parish Prison inmate was sentenced Friday (Jan. 9) to 28 months in prison for his role in a notorious video that showed inmates using drugs, drinking and holding a gun while behind bars.

George Anderson, 50, entered a guilty plea on two counts of possession of contraband inside the prison, according to a release from Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro’s office.

Anderson and 13 other inmates gained national attention last year when their videos, recorded in 2009, surfaced during court hearings on the federal consent decree at OPP. While Anderson is shown drinking a can of Budweiser beer and holding cash, other inmates could be seen both shooting and snorting drugs.
