DELANO, Calif. — The suspect responsible for shooting a correctional officer outside the North Kern State Prison is still at large.
ABC News reports that the officer has been released from the hospital after being shot Monday evening.
Prison officials say that between 15 and 20 rounds were fired outside the secure perimeter and into the Facility A yard. Only one officer was struck, and he was wearing a stab-resistant vest.
His name has not been released.
All inmates and staff were accounted for following the shooting, according to a CDCR spokesperson.
There is no description of the suspect, but shell casings were found outside a nearby vehicle.
