Senior Team Leader Joseph Garcia, with the U.S. Corrections-Special Operations Group (US C-SOG), is one of the world’s foremost experts in the highly specialized area of Corrections Special Operations. STL Garcia is among the field’s leading innovators, trainers, speakers, and expert witnesses. Currently, he is Senior Instructor for the United States Corrections-Special Operations Group. He is also an active Lieutenant with the Berks County Prison serving as the SOG team’s Senior Team Leader (full time, active Tier 1 team). STL Garcia spearheads US C-SOG’s Special Detachment Unit which provides training to corrections emergency response teams nationally and internationally.
In 2008 STL Garcia was inducted into the Royal Society of National Instructors. He was the first American and foreigner to be inducted into this exclusive organization. STL Joseph Garcia is recognized as a subject matter expert in over two dozen states and within the federal government, Israel, Singapore and the U.K.
STL Garcia is a frequent guest for local and national media, where he provides expert commentary regarding corrections and prison special operations. His media appearances include Fox News Network, local NBC, CBS and ABC affiliates, numerous local newspapers, and National Public Radio. As a subject matter expert, he has advised and consulted with more than a dozen Fortune 500 companies.
He is one of the most published and recognized instructors in the areas of Less Lethal Combat Operations, Correctional Hostage Rescue Operations and High Risk Inmate Transport Operations with more than 200 published articles (print and online).
