Former state corrections officer alleges gender discrimination

Claims that male senior staff would not communicate with her directly

By C1 Staff

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — A former corrections officer captain at SCI-Pittsburg claims in a federal lawsuit that she retired in June 2011 due to pervasive gender discrimination.

Pamela K. Teeter says she was the only female captain at the Woods Run State Prison and that male senior staff would refuse to talk with her directly, according to Triblive.com. Instead, they would have messages relayed by other staff members.

Neither her attorney nor a Department of Corrections spokesperson could be reached for comment.
