Video: Inmate attempts to escape prison in suitcase

Was caught when his accomplice appeared nervous around corrections officers

By C1 Staff

Mexico — An attempted prison escape by suitcase was foiled when his accomplice started to act nervous around corrections officers.

Juan Ramirez Tijerina was four years into a twenty-year sentence when he and his girlfriend Maria del Carmen Arjona Rivero hatched the plan, according to The Stir. During a conjugal visit, Tijerina packed himself into the suitcase that Rivero had brought along.

Corrections officers noticed that something was up when Rivero started acting nervous around the prison exit. They examined the suitcase and found Tijerina inside.
