NY corrections officer "starved dog"

A city Correction captain is to appear in Brooklyn Criminal court today on charges of nearly starving her bulldog, Cupid, to death

By Larry Celona
The New York Post

NEW YORK — She wouldn't throw her dog a bone.

A city Correction captain is to appear in Brooklyn Criminal court today on charges of nearly starving her bulldog, Cupid, to death, The Post has learned.

Authorities had been called before to the Brooklyn home of Capt. Lucia Smith, 43, to investigate a complaint of a "dog so thin, its bones were showing," a source said.

ASPCA agents returned on April 17 and arrested the officer on a charge of animal cruelty. She faces up to one year in jail.

She hung up on a Post reporter seeking comment.

Cupid, 4, was taken to an ASPCA hospital and gained 11 pounds.
