SAFFORD, Ariz. — Safford police officers responded to a call Friday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. about a man with a gun teetering dangerously near the edge of the Eighth Avenue Bridge.

The man, who was wearing a Department of Corrections uniform, was identified as David Hudson.

As soon as Safford officers arrived on the scene, Hudson put down his gun, and the officers were able to pull him to safety.

Graham County Sheriff P.J. Allred said the man never made any threats about harming anyone besides himself, and quickly submitted when officers arrived on the scene.

Hudson was transported via ambulance to the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
