Calif. inmate dies at minimum-security facility

Inmate at a minimum-security jail in Milpitas died after he suffered an apparent heart attack

MILPITAS, Calif. — The Santa Clara County Sheriff's office says an inmate at a minimum-security jail in Milpitas died after he suffered an apparent heart attack.

Sheriff's spokesman Rick Sung says an inmate at the Elmwood Correctional Facility reported that another inmate was having difficulty breathing Sunday afternoon.

Sung says correctional officers, firefighters and a nurse responded and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
