FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — The last of four defendants was sentenced yesterday in a scheme to smuggle heroin into the Franklin County jail in 2010.
Emily D. Mollett, 21, of Withers Avenue in Franklin Township, was placed on probation for three years by Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Stephen L. McIntosh.
The first six months will be served in the county's community-based correctional facility.
She pleaded guilty in April to two counts of possession of heroin for her role in trying to smuggle the drug to an inmate in the jail on Jackson Pike.
The drug was hidden in underwear meant for inmate Franklin D. Legg, 38, of 42 S. Burgess Ave. on the Hilltop. He was serving time for breaking and entering, receiving stolen property and theft.
Legg was sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty in April to one count of trafficking in heroin.
The others involved in the plot were Michael L. VanSickle Jr., 23, of Richardson Avenue on the Hilltop, and Phillip L. Jessie, 36, of Beulah Road in North Linden. Both pleaded guilty this month to one count of attempted illegal conveyance of drugs onto the grounds of a detention facility.
