Inmate faces first-degree murder charge in death of Colo. CO
Miguel Contreras-Perez will be formally charged on January 29

CROWLEY COUNTY, Colo. — A Colorado prison inmate has been advised he is being held for investigation of first degree murder in the stabbing death of a 55-year-old sergeant at Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility.
Crowley County District Court Judge Michael Schiferl advised Miguel Contreras-Perez Tuesday that he is being held in the death on Sept. 24 of Sgt. Mary Ricard.
District Attorney Rodney Fouracre said Wednesday that Contreras-Perez will be formally charged on Jan. 29. At that time he will also be charged in connection to the stabbing of Sgt. Lori Gann, who was seriously injured.
